NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS: OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

$25/hour for approximately 25 hours/week.
Part-time, work from home with one day a week required office hours. Additional hours may be needed during the audit and special events.

Position Description:
The James Renwick Alliance for Craft (JRACraft) seeks an organized, highly detail-oriented non-profit administrator who is eager to learn and gain experience in a non-profit organization dedicated to contemporary craft. This individual will be responsible for day-to-day operations as well as basic marketing, and will report directly to the Executive Director. While the outline for this position and specific duties highlighted below reflect JRACraft’s current needs, we are open to adapting the role to fit the skills, experience, and goals of the right applicant. 


About the James Renwick Alliance for Craft (JRACraft):
JRACraft is a national nonprofit for art enthusiasts, collectors, artists, educators, students, and art professionals who share a passion for contemporary American craft. Our mission is to celebrate and advance American Craft and craft artists by fostering education, connoisseurship, and public appreciation through programs, educational trips, publications, and recognition of excellence in the field. In addition, we provide support to craft artists and museums, including the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, where we have provided more than $3.5 million for acquisitions, exhibitions, public programs, and publications.


Job Responsibilities:
JRACraft welcomes applicants who may not yet have every skill listed below but who demonstrate strong potential to learn. We are open to training the right candidate in certain areas; however, exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and reliability are essential for success in this role. 


Accounting (30%)
• Schedule and pay all recurring expenses
• Manage refunds and cut checks when needed
• Create basic financial reports as needed (for board, specific events, etc.)
• Manage reimbursements and artist payments
• Manage credit card statements and receipts
• Conduct insurance audit
• Assist in compiling financial audit information
 

Operations (35%)
• Schedule and update the office calendar with meetings and other key dates as needed
• Manage government event applications with city/county agencies
• Prepare board meeting documents
• Document procedures as needed
• Update and maintain mailing list
• Serve as a general editor for public JRACraft content
• Order office supplies and printed materials as needed
• Ensure the completion of contracts and/or reservations as needed
• Support annual fundraiser as needed
• Manage postcard and letter mailings from office

 
Marketing (35%)
• Maintain up-to-date content on the JRACraft website
• Manage the marketing schedule
• Create and oversee e-blasts
• Develop and schedule social media posts
• Maintain press contacts mailing list
• Write event press releases
• Approve, add, and update community calendar events as needed

Candidate requirements:
• Self-motivated, reliable, and disciplined in working independently and effectively 
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Proficiency in basic programs (i.e. Microsoft Office suite and Google Workspace)
• Ability to learn technology efficiently and effectively
• Willingness to be trained in specific systems and workflows as needed

Added Bonus:
​• Prior experience or knowledge of the Contemporary Craft field
• Prior experience with QuickBooks 
• Basic graphic design skills using Canva 
• Related prior administrative work experience
