BOARD PRESIDENT TRANSITION

7/1/2025

HEARTFELT Thanks to outgoing Board President, ReBecca Ravenal!
As our dedicated and longtime member Rebecca Ravenal steps out of her role as board president, we want to express our gratitude for her visionary leadership, infectious enthusiasm, and persistent dedication--for even longer than the usual term!

"It's been a pleasure working with our executive director, staff, board members, and volunteers for almost three years to help keep JRACraft going strong. I remain on the board and continue to run the Distinguished Artist Series and other programming, so this isn't 'goodbye', more like 'see you around' as we enjoy all the wonderful events that JRACraft has to offer" says Rebecca.
In her time as board president, Rebecca oversaw the introduction of our popular summer craft history courses as well as major gift donations to the Renwick Gallery, and managed the search and transition between Executive Directors. We are so thankful for her hard work and service to the organization.
welcome to jracraft's NEW BOARD PRESIDENT, AMANDA PHILLIPS!
We are thrilled  to welcome Amanda Phillips who will begin her term on July 1, 2025. Amanda brings a global perspective on contemporary craft, along with deep experience leading arts organizations in D.C. and beyond. We look forward to the exciting chapter ahead under her guidance. To find out more about Amanda, read her letter below:

Dear JRACraft Community,

I was introduced to JRACraft because of my love for craft and craftsmanship, and long time involvement in and partnerships with the greater DC area’s art organizations. I have experience as a board member of various groups, but also as a fundraiser, communications director, exhibit curator and program creator.

These days I work as a public art administrator, helping to turn empty spaces into vibrant places through art.  My love for fine craft, however, is deeply personal and I grew up in a British/American household surrounded by a myriad of bespoke objects and also around us, all the dedicated people who made them. I still live mostly with things made by artists I know and love.

As my new term as Board President begins, I look forward to working with Jennifer, and her staff, and with all the 2025-2026 Board members, longtime and new. Together, I believe we can continue to move JRACraft to new heights and attract more members to our wonderful organization! Thanks especially to Rebecca, whose tirelessly committed and knowledgeable shoes will be hard to fill in this role.

I look forward to connecting.
