JRACRAFT AWARDED CAH GRANT

THE LARGEST GRANT RECEIVED IN THE ORGANIZATION'S HISTORY WILL SUPPORT OPERATIONS AND ADVANCING AMERICAN CRAFT

The James Renwick Alliance for Craft (JRACraft) is thrilled to announce it has been awarded a $93,000 operational grant from District of Columbia's Commission on the Arts & Humanities (CAH) for Fiscal Year 2026--marking the largest grant received in the organization’s history. This vital funding will support critical operational expenses, including staff salaries, programming costs, rent, utilities, and more. At a time when arts funding faces unprecedented challenges, this grant helps to ensure the organization can continue its mission of advancing the appreciations and education of American craft.

“This grant will go where it’s needed most: strengthening the backbone of our organization and empowering the artists, institutions, scholars, and curators who are the heart of the craft field,” said Executive Director Jennifer Scanlan. “We are deeply grateful to CAH for their support, which not only sustains our work but also reinforces the importance of recognizing craft in the U.S. and our nation's capital." The grant underscores the city’s commitment to arts funding and will enable JRACraft to expand its reach and impact through educational programs, awards, and more.

This grant is funded by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (CAH) is an independent agency in the District of Columbia government. First established in 1968, it evaluates and initiates action on matters relating to the arts and humanities. Additionally, CAH encourages programs and the development of programs that promote progress in the arts and humanities. CAH is the designated state arts agency for the District of Columbia. It is supported primarily through District government funds. Additionally, it receives partial support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
